Description
Big-bag emptying station with piercing tip
The EasyFlow®EF5 big-bag emptying station is an innovative solution designed to optimise the rapid and safe unloading of big bags, whilst minimising manual intervention. Thanks to its big-bag piercing tip system, this station ensures automatic opening of the big-bag, thereby delivering significant time savings and a discharge rate that is significantly higher than that of traditional systems.
Equipped with a buffer hopper with a full opening, the EasyFlow®EF5 station offers a storage capacity capable of holding the entire contents of the big bag in a single cycle, thereby avoiding interruptions in the production process. Its integrated dust extraction ring ensures a clean working environment by limiting the dispersion of fine particles, whilst its containment skirt guarantees a perfect seal and a high level of safety during discharge.
Compatible with all types of big bags, including those with flat bottoms or discharge spouts, this station adapts to the requirements of the chemical, construction, construction and public works, water treatment and food processing industries. To further improve process efficiency, additional options are available, such as agitation cylinders to improve the flow of difficult-to-handle products, as well as a knife-type de-clumper to handle compacted or clumped products.
This versatile and scalable solution ensures optimised discharge, a reduction in manual handling and improved continuity of industrial operations.
The EasyFlow® EF5 model is the base model for our EasyFlow® High-Throughput EF500 range, available in semi-automatic or fully automatic versions: an extended version, with the compaction system integrated directly into its enclosed discharge chamber.

Operating procedure
The EF5 big-bag emptying station operates using a fully optimised process designed to ensure fast and safe emptying, with minimal human intervention.
Positioning the big bag
Depending on the chosen loading method, the big bag is positioned on the station either by electric hoist, forklift truck or overhead crane. Once in place above the hopper, the big bag is lowered gradually until its base ‘picks up’ on the big bag piercing tip.
Automatic opening of the big bag
The big-bag piercing tip, available in a V-version (pyramid) for flat-bottomed big-bags and a U-version for all types of big-bags (with or without a discharge spout), allows the big-bag to be opened instantly. This system eliminates the need for manual intervention, thereby reducing the risk of contamination and speeding up the emptying process.
Product discharge
Once the big bag has been opened, the product flows freely into the buffer hopper with its full opening, designed to accommodate the entire contents of the big bag. At the hopper inlet, a containment skirt and a dust collection ring capture the fine particles emitted during opening and emptying. These ensure a clean and safe working environment.
Flow facilitation (optional)
For products that tend to clump in big bags, the station can be fitted with side agitation cylinders. These apply pressure to the sides of the big bag to encourage product flow and prevent bridging.
Processing of clumped products (optional)
Where the product forms compact lumps or clumps significantly, a knife-type lump breaker can be integrated at the hopper outlet. This equipment breaks up the lumps to ensure a consistent and smooth flow, thereby guaranteeing a continuous feed to the downstream process.
Removal of the empty big bag
Once the product has been completely discharged, the empty big bag is removed from the station using a hoist or forklift. A separate big bag compactor can be installed to handle the empty big bags.
Blade maintenance
The blades of the tip are mounted on a support. The assembly is secured to retaining bars that support the weight of the big bag and act as an extraction slide. An access hatch is provided to allow the complete big-bag piercing tip to be removed during maintenance.
Thanks to this automation and the available optimisation options, the EF5 station guarantees high throughput, reduced downtime and enhanced safety for operators.
