how to produce your own AdBlue?

Urea is used to clean up exhaust fumes from factories and diesel engines. It can be advantageous to produce it yourself once you reach a high level of consumption.

Here our powder expert answers all your questions about AdBlue production: How do I make AdBlue? Can I produce my own AdBlue? I am a big consumer of urea solution, can I produce it myself? Is it profitable?

1. Produce your own urea

It is possible to produce liquid urea solution yourself if it proves profitable in view of the required quantities you will use. If your monthly consumption of urea solution amounts to more than 30-40 cubic meters, then it is worth exploring. There are AdBlue production units in various formats that can meet different needs.

2. Palamatic solutions to manufacture AdBlue

The PalBlue Skid® is a mobile production line that can produce 15 or 30 m³ of urea solution, respectively for small and large formats. It comes in a transportable shipping container, called a skid, and is ready to operate upon delivery.

Beyond 70m³ of urea per day, it is smarter to install a complete production line on site, such as the PalBlue Process® installation. It comes in two formats: a 70 m³/day format and a 140 m³/day format.

The two systems, PalBlue Skid® and PalBlue Process®, are both capable of producing urea solutions of varying concentration, depending on requirements.

It is therefore possible to produce both urea solutions for Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) and for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). The quality of the product can be configured according to your needs, whether they concern the treatment of industrial (SNCR) or automotive (SCR) fumes. These systems are therefore particularly capable of producing AdBlue. As a reminder, AdBlue is a depolluting agent necessary for the proper functioning of vehicles equipped with diesel engines.

The AdBlue process simply involves heating water to dilute the urea. Therefore, it is easy to handle these machines after a short training session.

3. Different machines for different needs

PalBlue Skid® and PalBlue Process® do not meet the same requirements.

PalBlue Skid® stands out for its speed of installation thanks to its delivery format, since it is a process mounted in a container but is limited in terms of flow.

PalBlue Process® compensates for this last point thanks to its mass production capacity and its complete automation.
