Description
Big-bag discharge station with advanced containment
Palamatic Process’s big-bag discharge station with advanced containment is an innovative solution designed to meet the strict requirements of industries handling hazardous, toxic, CMR or sensitive powders. It guarantees safe unloading, with no dust emissions and no contact between the operator and the products being handled.
Equipped with a glove box and a sealed connection head, this station allows big bags to be opened and emptied in a closed circuit, without breaching containment. Its hermetic docking system ensures a perfect seal during connection, preventing any dispersion of particles into the working environment. Once the big bag has been emptied, the operator can close it safely using the integrated gloves, avoiding any direct contact with the product.
A set of automatic valves allows for intelligent management of suction flow rates between the glove box and the connection head, thereby optimising dust containment. Several options are available to further enhance safety, such as evacuating the big bag before disconnection or extracting fine particles from the discharge sleeve before it is hermetically sealed.
The big bag loading methods are the same as for the rest of the EasyFlow® range: electric hoist, forklift truck, overhead crane. The structures are adapted accordingly.
Several additional containment options can be added: full enclosure of the upper part of the station. Independent big bag compactor.
The station is designed to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical, chemical, nuclear and food industries, where strict containment control is essential.
Thanks to its advanced design, this station ensures a high level of safety for operators and perfect control of powder flows, thus offering a turnkey solution for industries requiring high-level containment.
The EasyFlow® EF04 model builds on the EF3 model, incorporating an additional level of containment. This model is not the ultimate stage of PALAMATIC containment. The EF range is also available in an extended version, with the compaction system integrated directly into its sealed discharge chamber: Models EF 100, 200, 300, 400 and EF 500.

Operating procedure
Positioning the big bag
The operator loads the big bag onto the station using an electric hoist, a forklift or an overhead crane, depending on the layout.
The big bag’s handles are secured to the lifting crossbar, ensuring safe and stable handling.
The load of the big bag is transferred to the unloading platform to ensure safe working conditions for the operator.
The big bag is lowered onto the unloading platform, and its sleeve is inserted into the sealed connection head. The clamping platform is in the raised position and only the section below the closure tie is inserted.
Connection and containment
The operator authorises the start of the dust extraction process.
They then slip their hands into the gloves to access the sealed connection head.
They secure the sleeve by lowering the clamping plate, ensuring total containment.
Once clamping is complete, only the suction on the connection head is maintained.
Unclamping and draining
The discharge sleeve is secured and gradually loosened to allow for controlled product flow. The operator handles the tie using gloves.
If necessary, agitation cylinders facilitate the flow of compacted powders.
Removal of the empty big bag
Once emptying is complete, the operator can reseal the sleeve tightly. The discharge sleeve remains clamped onto the head, ensuring containment. The operator re-ties the closure tie on the sleeve.
A vacuum extraction from the big bag (optional) can be activated before closing the tie and disconnecting the sleeve, to prevent any residual emissions. This system also reduces the volume of the big bag. An automatic valve must be installed beneath the sealed connection head to enable effective extraction.
Once the clamping plate has been raised, a vacuum hose (optional) is used to clean the part of the sleeve beneath the tie before it is hermetically sealed (swansneck seal).
The operator can then remove their gloves and authorise the removal of the big bag (using a hoist, trolley, etc.).
The emptied big bag is removed safely and can be compacted using an independent compaction system such as Roll’R or a screw compactor (optional).
An isolation guillotine valve (optional) allows the process to be isolated from the external environment at the end of the campaign. This valve seals off the discharge platform.
