OPDosing® Linear

Manual weigh batching for micro-ingredients

Capacity of 5 to 50 buffer cells
OpDosing® Manual dosing unit for pre-weighed micro-ingredients
Description

The OPDosing® Linear manual batch weighing line provides accurate and reliable preparation of all your minor ingredients.

The mobile weigh scale is supported by a guided and lockable rail system. The bulk ingredient trays are designed to hold enough material for daily production runs. The operator manually scoops and pre-weighs the material from each tray in order to feed very accurate amounts into the main production line.

The OPDosing® Linear by Palamatic Process is a micro-ingredient dosing system that is manually controlled by an operator. It is perfectly suited for applications involving the addition of minor ingredients in food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and chemical industries.
This industrial solution is used in production processes where the required minor additives change often by batch, or recipe, and cannot be automated. However, the importance of these additives cannot be overlooked and must be identified and traced properly, based on the required receipt and production requirements. The design of the OPDosing® Linear system also allows it to be used in hazardous locations and explosive environments.

Dosage details

The dosage is done manually by the operator working on the prep lines. The accuracy of the scale is directly related to its range. For a range of 30 kg, 5g accuracy is available. For a 2 gr accuracy, you will have to opt for a range scale of 10 kg. The support structure of the scale provides enhanced stiffness for high-precision lines.

Ingredients storage cell

The OPDosing® Linear offers flexibility over the number of integrable cells. The capacity of the cells can vary from 25 to 100 litres depending on the type of ingredient and the volumes processed. The cells are made of food grade polyethylene and 304L stainless steel, 316L.

The ingredient bins are removable allowing them to be filled in storage areas. In addition, the advantage of polyethylene ingredient trays is their ease of cleaning due to their light handling and dismantling.

Common areas of application

  • Very low weight requirements by ingredient
  • Manual operation (non-automated)
  • Minor additives frequently change
  • Batches call for various ingredients
  • Budget constraints require economical solution
  • Batch traceability

Principle of operation

OPDosing® Linear is designed to be modular in concept and function. It is mainly comprised of ingredient storage trays (enough capacity for day-to-day production requirements), mobile scale with digital read out, barcode reader, dust collection and label printer. A console is available to give guidance to the operator using graphics and recipe management.

Once the recipe is entered into the control system, the operator is given instruction on which minor additives are required by weight. The operator then uses the barcode to identify the correct ingredient and manually scoops the material into the collection bin located on the mobile scale. The scale is connected to a digital weight display and console that facilitates the dosing according to the tolerances required. Once every ingredient is combined in the collection container, a label can be printed to identify the contents by quantity, as well as the targeted production run.

Thanks to the controls, the batch can be recorded and stored for traceability purposes.

Recipe traceablility and security

As with all Palamatic prep lines, the OPDosing® Linear offers ingredient identification and traceability capabilities. Each ingredient tray has its own barcode to control weighed powders and weighing records. Keying sensors can be integrated on the pre-weighing line to avoid any risk of error. The weigh operator is guided throughout the recipe by industrial computer displaying the ingredient to weigh, the weight recorded and the accepted tolerance.

Applications standards

The OPDosing® Linear pre-weigh manual line is primarily intended for the agri-food industries handling a large number of ingredients. Bakers, confectionery, industrial deli meats or spice and spice premix manufacturers are the main users of pre-weigh lines.

The OPDosing® Linear line is also widely used in the rubber field. The additives are introduced directly into the Z-arm,  banburry after being pre-weighed and packaged in “fusible” bags. The micro-ingredients introduced into the rubber allow the obtaining of mechanical characteristics of the master batch.

Palamatic Process teams specializing in powder handling lines ensure you build a pre-weighing line tailored to your needs. Working with Palamatic allows you to have a unique contact from the design to the production of your ingredient line.
