Description
The industrial pin mill (also known as a universal mill, turbo mill, and impact mill) is a one pass grinding equipment ideal for achieving the micronization of bulk materials and powdered products. Common applications involve the fine grinding of sugar, salt, sodium bicarb, etc. The average achievable particle size range of the pin mill is around a d50 of 80 microns. Results can vary depending on the material, rates, feed, etc.

Operating sequence
The feed of bulk materials is supplied to the center of the grinding medium (pin discs). A magnetic separator is integrated in the feed inlet leading into the grinding chamber for protection of the mill. The one pass mill process is conducted via the impact milling medium, which are rows of pins concentrically mounted on rotary discs. The RPM of the discs are adjustable by variable speed controls (can be supplied in addition to the mill) which can produce finer or coarser grinds. The particle size of the powder output is determined by three main factors:
1 - Rotation speed
2 - Number and shape of the pins
3 - Air flow rate
